This recipe was used by Calvin Assisted & Independent Living tenants during an activity. Baking sure is fun when you do it with your neighbors!
- Ingredients:
- 1 1/4 cup (10 oz) whole milk
- 2 cups all purpose flour
- 3 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- Instructions:
- Preheat toaster ovens to 350 degrees.
- Line bread-baking pans with parchment paper. We used an 8×4 pan. You can use a bigger pan, but in our experience the bread didn’t rise as well.
- In a large mixing bowl, add the dry ingredients. Once combined, add milk. Use a whisk to mix the two together, whisking until there are no lumps. Be careful as to not overmix, the bread will come out too tough.
- Pour batter into the prepared baking pan.
- Bake bread for 35-40 minutes or until light brown on top. This bread will not develop as much color as your typical yeast bread. You will know it is done when you press on the bread and it bounces back, as well as inserting a toothpick that comes out clean.
- Let bread cool completely in the pan before removing and slicing.
- Enjoy! We topped our bread with butter, jam, and honey, yum!
