Calvin’s Assisted & Independent Living tenants cooked up this tasty Chex Mix and each person got to take their treats home to enjoy.
- Supplies Needed:
- Disposable metal pan (bread pan, baking pan, loaf pan, etc)
- Cooking spray
- Ziploc bags
- Ingredients:
- 1 cup Corn chex cereal
- 1 cup Rice chex cereal
- 1 cup Wheat chex cereal
- 1/2 cup Mixed nuts
- 1/2 cup Mini pretzels
- 1/2 cup Garlic Rye Bagel chips
- 2 tablespoons Butter, melted
- 3 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon Seasoned salt
- 1/4 teaspoon Garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon Onion powder
- Add in anything else that looks good! The mix is yours.
- Instructions:
- Add all dry snack ingredients. You can add to your taste preference, what matters is the butter and spice ratio for flavor.
- Once you have mixed around the snack mix, it is time to make the flavoring.
- Melt 2 tablespoons of butter in the microwave. Stir in Worcestershire sauce, seasoned salt, garlic powder, and onion powder.
- Pour over the snack mix. Stir and make sure all pieces are coated.
- Cooking options, choose one:
- Cook in an oven at 250 degrees for 45 minutes. Stir every once in a while to prevent burning. When the timer is done, let cool and then enjoy! OR
- Cook in a crockpot on low for 2 hours. Spray the slowcooker before pouring snack mix in. Stir often to prevent burning.
- Store in Ziploc bags to keep fresh!
